MANOLIS KALOMIRIS SOCIETY
The aim of the Society is the preservation, publication and promotion of the works and cultural heritage of Manolis Kalomiris.
Over the years it has played a key role in promoting concerts and recordings, publications, studies, lectures, radio and TV programmes. It has ensured that there are ready-to-play parts for all compositions. It has microfilmed all manuscripts. It keeps a collection of photographs, newspaper clippings, articles, books, recordings etc. It was instrumental in the celebration of a 100 years since the composer's birth in 1983 and in recent years it has assisted the setting up of a summer Festival in Samos and of a Children's Choir in Athens which both bear the composer's name.
The Manolis Kalomiris Society was founded in 1980, by a group of admirers of the composer, with help from the composer's daughter, Krino Kalomiris. Its first chairman was Hari Politopoulos. He was succeeded by Antony Karvelas and later by Pericles Koukos. Today the board of directors is chaired by conductor Byron Fidetzis and includes composers Pericles Koukos and Filippos Tsalahouris, pianist Elena Mouzalas and producer Christos Tsenes. Hara Kalomiris, the composer's grand daughter is honorary chairman. Hari Politopoulos was the first webmaster succeded by the composer Filimon Lambrou and his assistant Pericles Chatziandreou.
