Λεβεντιάς)
(1920/1937/1952)
This is Kalomiris' most popular work, the most
frequently and widely performed and recorded. The score was published in 1956 by
the Union of Greek Composers. It is out of stock but is available as a photocopy
from the Manolis Kalomiris Society which also has
the orchestral and choral parts.

recording with the Sofia Philharmonic and Obretenov Chorus under Byron Fidetzis
was issued on CD. A 1986 Austrian Radio recording
at the MUSIKVEREIN in Vienna, with the ORF Symphonieorchester - Wiener
Singverein under Miltiades Caridis
had been issued both in Greece and in Germany (SCHWAN). It has now been re-issued by
LYRA in Athens and is also available for
downloading or as a "made to order" CD from musicmaker.com
(search for "kalomiris")
Kalomiris himself has written
a note on his first symphony.Additional notes are available only in Greek
about the historical context by Christos
Tsenes and about the musical form by
Nikos Christodoulou.
